Obituary of Bernice H. King

Bernice H. King of Piscataway New Jersey passed away on January 29, 2013. She was diagnosed with cancer in mid 2012 and she courageously battled her illness before her passing. Bernice was born on July 20, 1943 in Plainfield New Jersey, one of six children to Bernard and Theodora Hayden. She graduated from Scotch Plains-Fanwood High school, as well as Drake Business School. In 1961 Bernice met her first true love and husband Eugene King; they were married in 1967 when he was discharged from the U.S. Army. Bernice was employed in 1978 as a Senior Registration Clerk at Rutgers State University where she held her position for 32 yeas before retiring after becoming ill in October of 2012; she will me sorely missed by her co-workers. Bernice who is 69, is survived by her husband of 45 years, Eugene King of Piscataway N.J., son Eric King of Union N.J., mother Theodora Hayden of Plainfield N.J., sister Charlotte Pierre of Plainfield N.J., sister Marilyn Auten of Edgewater Park N.J., Brother Bernard Hayden of Plainfield N.J., nieces Shawn Johnson and Tisha Pierre of Plainfield N.J., Charo and Chey Pierre of Orange N.J., Janelle Auten of Edgewater Park N.J., nephews Aaron Auten of Delran N.J., Eric Hayden of Plainfield N.J., Cartrell and Omar Boroughs of N.Y., as well as, many other relatives and friends. She will also be sorely missed by her husband's family and in-laws Pat and George Powell and family, Mildred and Jessie Scott and family as well as Duane King, Bernice's funeral service will be held at Higgins Funeral Home 209 West 8th street, Plainfield NJ 07060. On Tuesday February 5, 2013 viewing will be from 11am-1:30pm. Service will be from 1:30pm-2:30pm followed by the precession to her burial.
