Obituary of Eleanor Catherine Sundburg

Eleanor Catherine Sundburg, age 78, died on Thursday, August 16th, 2012 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. The same hospital where she was born. She lived in Somerville until her marriage to William Sundburg in 1960. After sharing a couple of apartments, they moved to their permanent home in Warren Township where they have resided since 1965. Eleanor was active in the community throughout her years in several capacities which included Cub Scout assistant, CCD teacher, Democratic Club member and election-day pollster. In her later years she enjoyed the activities of the Warren Seniors, spending time with her granddaughters, going to AC, doing a bit of traveling, Irish dancing & most of all being with her love and best friend, her husband Bill. Eleanor has been an active member of Our Lady of the Mount Church for almost 50 years. She is survived by her husband William of Warren Township, her son William Jr. of Toms River, NJ, her daughter Marilyn of Easton, PA, son Michael of South River, NJ and her daughter Allison Fleisher of Branchburg, NJ. In addition, she leaves four lovely granddaughters: Samantha Sundburg, Emma Sundburg, Corrine Fleisher and Anna Fleisher. She is also survived by her two sisters, Jean Murphy and Eileen Donohue. Eleanor is predeceased by her oldest sister Dolores Eganey. Funeral services will be on Monday, August 20th at 9:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Mount Chapel, Warren. Cremation is private. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
