Obituary of William Francis Zimmermann

William "Billy" F. Zimmermann, 19, of Far Hills, NJ, tragically passed away on March 7, 2013, while on Spring Break with his friends from his beloved Villanova University.Billy grew up in the Basking Ridge area and was a member of the Seton Hall Prep Class of 2011. He was a talented athlete and was an integral player on the Prep soccer team which won the State Championship in 2009 and the Essex County Championship in 2010. He received the Dr. Richard Grady award in 2010 which is given to "the unsung hero, the player who does all the things a team needs done to win and often does it with little fanfare or notoriety. He is the player who provides all the intangibles selflessly for the overall good of the team on and off the field", which is a trademark of his wonderful personality. He was awarded All Essex and All Conference honors in 2010.After graduating Seton Hall Prep and keeping with the family tradition, Billy followed in his dad's footsteps to Villanova where he continued to stay involved in soccer. He was also a member of the Psi Sigma Kappa fraternity and was majoring in Economics and minoring in Spanish while also maintaining a 3.2 average. In the summer when he wasn't working at the family business, he spent as much time as he could with his family and friends in Normandy Beach. He loved playing all sports especially with his brothers and sisters. He was an avid snow boarder in the winter and loved the ocean in the summer. Billy could light up a room with his amazing smile and easy going manner. Words cannot express how much he is loved and how much he will be missed.Billy is survived by his adoring parents, Bud and Susan Zimmermann, his brothers, Shawn and Brian, and his sisters, Meghan, Kaitlin and Shannon. He is also the beloved grandson of Bill (deceased) and Mary Brown of Florham Park and Frank and Bernadette Zimmermann of Spring Lake Heights. He will be deeply missed by his aunts and uncles, Bob and Kate Zimmermann, Marydette and Rick Holt, Bill Brown and Sharon Reich and his cousins Casey, Kelly and Lizzy Zimmermann, Brian and Kiersten Schiller, Kristen, Jamie and Lauren Reich as well as the innumerable friends he has made in his too short time with us.A Funeral Mass celebrating his life will be held at St. James Church, 184 S. Finley Ave., Basking Ridge, NJ, on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 10am. Visitation will be held at the Church, on Monday, March 11, 2013 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. In lieu of flowers a scholarship has been established in memory of Billy Zimmermann at Seton Hall Prep.
