Obituary of Dr. Marvin J. Pinn

Marvin J. Pinn, D.M.D. Watchung: Marvin J. Pinn, D.M.D., age 72, died on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at his home in Watchung. He was surrounded by his wife and children at the time of his death. Dr. Pinn was born and raised in Plainfield. Dr. Pinn attended Cornell University, next proceeding to the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine from which he graduated with a D.M.D. in 1960. He then entered the U.S. Army Dental Corps and spent two years assigned to the Seventh Army Headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany. This first overseas experience led him to a lifetime of passionate travel. Following his discharge from the Army in 1962, he began a General Dentistry practice in Plainfield. Subsequently, he served as an instructor of Restorative Dentistry at Seton Hall University; he also obtained a postgraduate certification in prosthodontics from New York University in 1974 and served as an Assistant Professor of Prosthodontics. In 1975, he moved his practice to his home in Watchung, where he continued to treat his patients until recently. Dr. Pinn was a member of the American Dental Association, the New Jersey Dental Association (including its Judicial Council) and the Central Dental Society; he has held office in all such organizations. He also belonged to the American College of Prosthodontists, the American College of Oral Medicine and the Academy of Osseointegration. Dr. Pinn is survived by his wife, Hilary Pinn (nee' Patt); his son, Jonathan Pinn and his wife Karen of Hoboken; his daughters, Nancy Pinn and her husband, Steven Kumins of Providence, RI and Jessica Pinn of Weehawken, NJ and her fianc, Kris Lisica; his brother, Fred Pinn and his wife, Karen of Sherman Oaks, CA; his sister, Judith Heir and her husband, Edward Caglione of North Plainfield and his grandson, Ori. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 11th at 10:30 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by interment at Hebrew Cemetery, South Plainfield.
