Obituary of Sr. Mary Cosgrove
Sister Mary Cosgrove died peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2008 at Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Sister was born in Philadelphia and entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1945.
She received a BA degree in Social Studies from Georgian Court University, Lakewood, NJ, a Masters degree in Library Science from Catholic University in DC and a MA degree in Religious Studies from Providence College in Rhode Island.
Through the years, Sister Mary taught in elementary schools in Atlantic City, Burlington and Edison. She served as Librarian at Notre Dame HS in Lawrenceville, Saint Mary HS in South Amboy and Mount Saint Mary Academy in Watchung. For more than 10 years, she worked as a Parish Minister in Saint Joseph Parish, Trenton.
In 1999, she moved to McAuley Hall Health Care Center where she continued her ministry of prayer and hospitality.
She is survived by her loving brothers, William and his wife Marge of Audubon, NJ, Leo and his wife Margaret of VA, Brother John Cosgrove, OP of New Orleans and many loving and caring nephews, nieces, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Visitation will take place at McAuley Hall Health Care Center, Saint Catherine of Siena Chapel on Sunday, October 26, 2008 from 6 to 8 pm and on Monday, October 27th from 0 to 10:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30. Burial will be at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield.
