Obituary of Ernest C. Testa

Ernest C. Testa Director of Mosquito Commission North Plainfield: Ernest C. Testa, age 63, died on Friday, July 10, 2009 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Ernie was a long time resident of Plainfield before moving to North Plainfield in 1996. He worked for the Union County Mosquito Commission as the Director for 30 years retiring in 2000. He served in the Navy and at one time was an active member of the Assunta Club and the Maddolonese Society in Plainfield. He is a current member of the Eagles Club in Plainfield. Ernie (Pop-Pop or Pee-Wee) will be remembered for his generous and kind way towards all who came to know and love him. His family meant the world to him. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He enjoyed family gatherings, the Jersey shore, traveling the islands, the lottery and OTB. Ernie is predeceased by his parents, Ernest Testa and Antoinette Lombardi; two brothers, Domenic and Frederick Testa and his sister, Angelina. Ernie is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 23 years, Joan Hennessey Testa and her children Frank Domenick and his wife Pat of Scotch Plains; Deborah King and her husband Mark of Somerset; Michael Domenick and his wife Sandy of Middlesex; Daryl Anne Mann and her husband Shawn of Dunellen; his brother, Jerry Testa and his wife Chris of Toms River & Florida; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 14th at 10 a.m. in the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
