Pharmacist
Calvin Page, age 76, entered into eternal rest peacefully at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living in Mountainside, NJ on Friday, November 6, 2009.
Calvin was born in Rock Hill, South Carolina. He spent the majority of his life in Plainfield, NJ, where he attended public school and graduated from Plainfield High School in 1951. In 1956, Calvin graduated from Duquesne University (Mylan School of Pharmacy) in Pittsburgh, PA with a Pharmaceutical degree. He became a registered pharmacist (RPh) and started his career at Scott's Drug and Grand Drug Stores in Plainfield and retired in 1998 from CVS pharmacy in Westfield, NJ.
He was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church where he served as a former trustee, active in the Men's Fellowship and taught in the Christian Education Ministry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clorine and Harry Page.
He is survived by his devoted cousin, Geri Agurs of Plainfield, NJ; his cousins, Robert Agurs (Laverne) of Bear, DE; Mae Streaty (Andre) of Washington, DC; Mattie Williams (James) of Mitchellville, MD; Franklin Simpson (Billie) of Edwardsville, IL; Linda Henry of Washington, DC; Tommy Page (Delores) of Wellington, NC; William (Butch) Page of Buffalo Junction, VA; his loving and supportive cousins, Darryl Agurs (Kimberly) of Plainfield; Patricia Gaither Ross of Plainfield and Andrewetta Shaw of Wilmington, DE. He is further survived by many close relatives and many countless friends.
Services will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 515-521 W. 4th Street, Plainfield, NJ. Family viewing will be 5 - 7 pm followed by the Homegoing Celebration at 7 pm. Interment will be at 11 am on Friday, November 13 at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains. Professional Services by Higgins Home for Funerals, Plainfield, NJ.
