Obituary of Joseph A. Pelizzoni, III

Joseph A. Pelizzoni, III, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown. He was born in Plainfield, NJ to Joseph A. Pelizzoni, Jr. and Louise. He grew up in North Plainfield and spent many happy summers as a child with family and friends at the family home on the Delaware River. Most recently, he resided in Warren. Mr. Pelizzoni graduated from North Plainfield High School, Temple University and received his law degree from Seton Hall Law School. He enjoyed a rewarding 35 year career with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ, retiring as assistant general counsel with responsibility for labor and employment law in 2012. Mr. Pelizzoni loved relaxing at his summer home in Manahawkin, NJ, going out on his boat and visiting new restaurants in the Long Beach Island area. He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Virginia; his brother, Richard Pelizzoni; his brother-in-law, Edward Matko and his nieces and nephews, Laura (David)Pereira, Joanna Pelizzoni, Michael Pelizzoni and Kaitlin Kenny. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 8th at 11:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. Cremation is private. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation for Morristown Medical Center, 475 South Street, Morristown, NJ 07960.
