Obituary of Anthony Dellanno

Anthony Dellanno, age 66, passed away on Friday August 9, 2013 at The Mountainside Hospital in Montclair NJ. Born in Newark, Mr. Dellanno grew up in East Orange and had resided in Garfield and North Caldwell for many years before recently moving to East Hanover. He received a Bachelor's Degree from NJIT in Engineering and later a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering from NJIT. Mr. Dellanno was the founder of Dellanno Construction INC., a commercial construction company in North Jersey which he ran for 35 years. Mr. Dellanno served in the US Army during the Vietnam War where he earned the Bronze Star with Valor Medal. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 510 of Cedar Grove. Mr. Dellanno was also a driving force in the design, funding and construction of the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Holmdel NJ. He was an avid golfer but most of all he loved spending time with his four grandchildren. He is predeceased by two brothers Dennis and Perry Dellanno and a son in law Adam Sackett. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Joan (McNair) Dellanno; three daughters Stacy Sackett of Warren, Robyn Ivey and her husband Anthony of Clifton and Lori Dellanno and her fiance Sherman Vargas of East Hanover; four grandchildren Carly, Ryan, Madelyn and Dylann. He is also survived by a brother Ronnie Dellanno and many extended family and friends. (You know who you are) Visitation will be held on Monday August 12, 2013 from 4 to 8 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung NJ. Cremation services will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his memory to a charity of your choice.
