Obituary of Thomas Joseph Villa

Thomas Joseph Villa, age 55, died on Thursday, December 8, 2011, after a fifteen-year valiant battle with cancer. Born in Jersey City, he was raised in North Plainfield and graduated from North Plainfield High School, then attended college in Florida. Thomas worked for Villa Furniture in North Plainfield, which is owned by his family. Even though he was sick, his positive attitude was an inspiration to all. Because of his outlook Tom was picked in November to be patient of the month at Somerset Medical Center. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling and had visited many different places. Predeceased by his father John Villa, and his brother Joseph Villa. Surviving is his mother Ann Villa; brother John Villa and his wife Sharon; sisters Mary Ann Gately and her husband Paul and Ann E. Villa; several nieces and nephews; longtime companion Ginny Stiles and his beloved dog Winston. Funeral services will be on Monday, December 12, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church in Bridgewater. Interment will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery, Bridgewater.
