Obituary of Arthur Sa

Arthur Sa, Jr. passed away March 23, 2012 near his home in West Palm Beach, Florida. At his bedside was his dear wife of 30 years, Margarida Araujo Sa. Arthur was born on October 14, 1925 in New Bedford, Massachusetts. At a very young age Arthur traveled to Portugal to reside with his grandparents. It was there he met his first wife and mother to his four children, Maria Rita Sa. They returned to the United States and resided in Plainfield and North Plainfield, New Jersey. One of his greatest memories was his time spent at second base with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Arthur worked in construction for many years. In 1972, in fulfillment of his "American Dream", he founded Sa and Sons Construction Company Inc. in Watchung. He worked side by side with his children for many years until his retirement in 1987. Arthur was awarded a Sterling Silver Honorary Membership in the North Plainfield PBA. Arthur was also a member of the Portuguese-American Cultural Society of Palm Beach. Arthur is predeceased by his first wife, Maria Rita Sa. He is survived and loved by his current wife Margarida, his sister Leonor Outor and her husband Carolino Outor. He leaves behind four children, Anthony and wife Christine, Alfredo and his wife Laurie, Maria Kenwell and her husband Raymond and Arthur and his wife Katherine. He is also survived by his eight grand children, who loved their Vavo; Alex, Maria, Allegra, Christina, Olivia, A.J., Erik and Thomas. He will be forever remembered by family and friends for his wonderful sense of humor and joy for life. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday March 27, 2012 at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung followed by the interment at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the funeral home.
