Obituary of Gloria M. Burns

Gloria Marie Burns, age 80, died peacefully on Saturday, June 30th, 2012 at the Raritan Health & Extended Care Facility in Raritan, NJ. She was born in Jersey City and lived in Clifton, NJ for more than 45 years. Prior to retiring from Saint Claire's Roman Catholic Church, where Gloria worked for 17 years, she held various positions at retailers including manager of the Broadway Hosiery in Jersey City, NJ during the 1950's. In later years she worked at Levi Brothers and The Great A&P Tea Company in Clifton. Gloria was a devout Roman Catholic and a loving mother and grandmother. Gloria was an avid sports fan enjoying all televised sports but her heart belonged to the NY Mets. Sewing and crocheting were her favorite hobbies. She enjoyed attending town sponsored exercise programs and shopping with friends. Gloria always loved spending time with her family especially vacationing at the NJ Shore. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband John Paul Burns, Sr. and sisters; Grace and Josephine. Surviving are her two children , daughter; Debra Mouridy and her husband Glenn residing in Bridgewater, NJ, and her son, John Paul Burns, Jr. and his wife Janet residing in Allendale, NJ. Gloria had three grandsons. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, July 7th at 10:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, Martinsville, NJ. Interment to follow at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, in Upper Montclair, NJ. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 6th, from 5-9 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069.
