Obituary of Mathilde Maria Horwath

Mathilde Maria (Schur) Horwath, age 76, died on Sunday, September 29, 2013, at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Born and raised in a farm house in Meitingen, Germany until moving to the United States in 1959. She resided in Union for three years before moving to Warren where she has resided for fifty years. Mathilde was a self-employed professional seamstress most of her life. She was a member of Our Lady of the Mount Church in Warren and had served for over thirty-five years as a volunteer for the Funeral Guild. Also, she volunteered at Runnells Hospital in Berkeley Heights for over thirty years. Mathilde loved spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. Surviving is her husband Paul Horwath: sons Herbert Horwath and his wife Tina, Paul John Horwath and Stephen Horwath and his wife Janel; brother Werner Schur; sister Tilli Schur; grandchildren Michael, Garrett, Stevie, Harrison and Dylan. Funeral services will be on Friday, October 4th, at 9:30 am at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:30 am at Our Lady of the Mount Chapel, Warren. Interment will follow at Cloverleaf Cemetery, Woodbridge. Visitation is on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the funeral home.
