Obituary of Mary Ann Fitz

Mary Ann Fitz, age 74, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2015 at her home in Warren. Born and raised in Newark, she had lived in Hillside and has resided in Warren since 1971. Mary Ann worked in the microfilm department of Public Service Electric and Gas for 40 years. She was a communicant of St. George Byzantine Catholic Church in Newark. Mary Ann enjoyed shopping, going to Atlantic City and Las Vegas, and loved Elvis Presley. Her greatest joy was spending time with her loving grandchildren. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert in 2007. Surviving are her son, Michael Fitz and his wife, Peggy and her grandchildren; Anna, Emmett and Michelle Fitz. Mary Ann's family would like to especially thank the Compassionate Care Hospice and her loving caregiver. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. George Byzantine Catholic Church, 214 Warwick St., Newark, NJ 07105. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 11, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, May 12 at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at St. George Byzantine Catholic Church, 214 Warwick Street, Newark, NJ. The interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
