Obituary of Claire Giaimo

Clara Lillian Giaimo "Claire" "Sis" Claire L. Giaimo, 90, formerly of Union, Mountainside and Bridgewater, NJ passed away peacefully on June 11th at Beaumont Hospital Hospice in Royal Oak, MI. The daughter of beloved parents, Charles Buehler & Esther Giblin, Claire was born December 7, 1924 in Newark, NJ and raised in Irvington, NJ. She was a graduate of Irvington High School. Claire wed Mario Giaimo on February 13, 1944 and was happily married for 56 years. They had four children. Claire was employed by the Lionel Corporation of Hillside, NJ in the accounts department before solely devoting herself to being a wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother. She was active for many years in bowling leagues with her friends and golfing with her husband. She also enjoyed several trips to Europe in her lifetime. Her greatest enjoyment was always to spend time with her family; helping and supporting them in any way she could. In her later years, she developed a lively interest in current events and politics. Claire is survived by her sons, William, Robert, Bradford and daughter, Barbara (Rick) Spina; her 9 wonderful grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; as well as her brother, Bill, sister-in-law, Jackie, nieces & nephews and family friends who considered her another "mom"or "grandma". She was predeceased by her loving husband, Mario, dear daughter-in-law, Laurie, sister-in-law, Anne, & older brother, Charlie. In lieu of flowers, donations in Claire's memory may be made to any animal rescue/shelter/society, Wounded Warriors (woundedwarriorproject.org), Paws for Vets (pawsforveterans.com) or the Alzheimer's Association. Visitation will take place at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watching, NJ 07069 on Saturday, July 25th from 3-6 pm with a memorial service beginning at 4:30 pm.
