Obituary of Lelia J. Loffelman
Lelia Jeanette (Hulstine) Loffelman, age 90, died on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Somerset in Somerville. Born in Rowlesburg, West Virginia, to the late John Lee and Esther Hulstine.
During World War II, she went to Arlington, VA to work for the Military Intelligence War Department. Mrs. Loffelman was a civilian cryptographic worker for the Army Signal Corps until the end of the War.
She met her husband of seventy years while he was serving in the US Navy.
Mrs. Loffelman has been a longtime member of the National Carousel Association for the preservation of the art of the old carousels.
She was predeceased in death by her infant son, Dennis Kurt Loffelman, her husband Dr. Frank Loffelman in 2001 and her sister Rita Hooton.
Surviving is her son Frank Loffelman, Jr., a daughter-in-law Ella Pacheo Loffelman, two grandchildren Katrina Lee Loffelman and Frank Loffelman, IV, all of Bridgewater and her sister Patricia Horney.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015, at 9:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Martinsville. Entombment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge. Visitation will be on Friday, July 10th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
