Obituary of Frieda Ellerbusch

Frieda Ellerbusch passed away peacefully on December 31, 2015 surrounded by family and friends; she was 88 years old. Frieda was born in Poland and experienced first hand the ravages of World War 2: she lost her mother during the invasion of Poland. In 1948 she married Henry Ellerbusch and started their family. She emigrated from Germany to the United States in 1955 and was proud to become a naturalized citizen; believing that America stood for freedom. A former resident of Roselle Park and Elizabeth, NJ, she spent the last years of her life in the care of McAuley Hall Healthcare Center in Watchung, NJ; where she felt most comfortable until leaving for her heavenly home. She was a steadfast Christian woman who learned to read and write English by studying the Bible. She loved music, played the guitar, and sang in a church women’s ensemble. Most recently she attended the Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Warren NJ. Her greatest source of joy was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; she will always be remembered for her devotion to bringing family members together. She is survived by her sister, Elly Reed of Florida, her children: Fred and his wife Lesley, Ulla and her husband Bob Damrau, Frank and his wife Anne, and Gary and his wife Ericka; her 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Gustav Potz, husband Henry, and grandson Ryan Damrau. Visitation will be held Friday January 8, 2016 from 6:30 pm to 9pm at the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A funeral service will be held at Higgins at 10am Saturday January 9th followed by internment at the Mt. Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Warren, NJ.
