Obituary of Joan Gallagher

Joan Gallagher, age 74, died on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Born in Dunellen, she had resided in Elizabeth for many years before moving to North Plainfield eighteen years ago. Joan was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. Joan was an animal lover, especially her dogs. In her spare time she enjoyed going to Bingo. Predeceased by her husband Francis J. Gallagher in 1981, and her brother Roger Portman Surviving are her children Lisa Smith, Frances Gallagher, Richard Gallagher and Glenn Gallagher; her sister Carolyn Portman; grandchildren Tara Reynolds, Kelly Pinto, Lisa Rachel Smith, Mary Smith, Angelina Gallagher, Jennifer Franco and Richard Gallagher, Jr.; great-grandchild Jameson Reynolds. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Iselin.
