Obituary of Joseph C. Giacobbe

Middlesex: Joseph C. Giacobbe, age 91 died on Thursday, November 28, 2013 at Bryan Manor in Gladstone. He was born in Brooklyn, NY and spent most of his life in Middlesex, NJ. Mr. Giacobbe served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Prior to his retirement, he was a banker with People's National Bank (now Bank of America) for many years. He was a former Communicant of St. John's RC Church in Dunellen. He belonged to the Middlesex Elks Lodge #1488 for 69 years and was past Exalted Ruler in 1984. He chaired the Elks Special Needs Committee; he was also Elk of the year and the official organist Mr. Giacobbe enjoyed traveling with his wife. He is predeceased by his wife, Ruth May Kelly Giacobbe in 2009; his son, Charles Giacobbe in 1954; a sister Josephine Sulewski and his sister-in-law, Patricia Giacobbe. Surviving are his daughter, Donna Giacobbe-Gervasio and her husband, Anthony of Basking Ridge; his brother, Carl Giacobbe and his grandson, Michael Gervasio. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and his loving caregiver, Lola Conner. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday December 4, 2013 10:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by entombment at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Homeless Animal Rescue Team, 231 North Ave., West # 156, Westfield, NJ 07090.
