I am writing this for my father, Walter Doerr-
Dad is living in assisted living facility now, he is 102 years old. Many years he has spoken to me of his wonderful friends with his bike riding club, and Tom was a dear friend to him for so long- He and Dad had many great rides along with their other bike riders. I know he will offer his sincere condolences when I tell him about Tom’s passing, he will be truly missed and was a cherished friend to my Dad, Walter. So very sorry for your loss, Doris- Dad is at the Chelsea in Fanwood now.

Thomas’s family: I'm so sorry for your loss. I went through a similar situation and I was very helped by the hope that I found in the Bible in John 5:28, which says, "Do not amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I am sending you a link with more information on this hope.

Tom was a life-long friend from the age of 5. We all grew up on the same street and played hard from morning to dark. Everything from baseball in the street to "hide-n-seek" in the neighborhood, to just hanging around at someone's house. Tom was always in a good mood and never engaged in some of the friction kids do. As we grew older and apart, we found ways to continue our friendship from riding bicycles down to New Hope to the occasional lunches at Chimney Rock Inn. Tom was a positive force in many aspects and had a genuine care and concern for everyone he knew. The world today is a little emptier with his passing, and he will be sadly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Doris, we were so sad to hear about Tom's passing and wanted to extend our heartfelt condolences to you. He was such a sweet guy. No matter how many times I locked myself out of my house, he always was ready to break in through our basement window and be assaulted by the spiderwebs as he tried to help me. Seeing him and Ozzie out for a walk always meant some good conversation with him. We'll miss him, but are grateful that he's in heaven for the angel he was in our lives.

Hi Doris, I was so sorry to hear about Tom. I remember back in our high school days we road to seaside heights on his red scooter. I don't know how I did it but I road on the back of that scooter all the way there, lol. Also I remember, a couple of years ago, he took me shooting to his gun club, that was alot of fun. He will be missed. So sorry for your loss. Rest in Peace Tom.

We grew up on Lenox Avenue in Plainfield several houses from Tommy and his brothers and sister. Tommy was always there with a smile, never saw him angry. We neighborhood kids spent hours and hours on front porches just "shooting the breeze" and Tommy was always there, usually with a cigarette in his hand. I remember seeing him in his Marine uniform and being so impressed and so happy that he came back from Viet Nam.
I'm happy to read that you had a large, loving family. You were an important part of the Lenox Avenue gang. Rest in Peace Tommy.
