Obituary of Michael Bassillo
Michael Bassillo, age 62, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Born in Newark, he had resided in Mountainside for many years before moving to Berkeley Heights 31 years ago.
Michael served in the United States Navy from 1975-1977 during the end of the Vietnam War. He was a truck driver with Toral Welding, Inc. in Jersey City. Michael was also the owner/operator of an appraisal company called TDA Appraisers.
He was a member of Liberty Church in Union, NJ. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting knives, coins, pens, and had a love for anything military airplanes, submarines and ships. He also enjoyed taking pictures. He loved spending time with his wife and children and will be missed by many relatives and friends.
Predeceased by his son Daniel J. (Dan) Bassillo in 2018.
Survived by his loving wife Karen (Kozub) Bassillo; his son Thomas Bassillo and his wife Lauren and his daughter Lexi Bassillo; siblings Tammy (Bassillo) Opperman, Frank Bassillo, Rae Marie (Bassillo) Soroka and Daryl Bassillo.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, November 1, 2019, from 11 am to 1 pm at Liberty Church,953 West Chestnut St., Union, NJ. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm at the church.
