Obituary of Sylvia Meyers

Sylvia (Helfin) Meyers, age 86, died on Monday, February 24, 2014, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she grew up in Newark and raised her family in Plainfield and Watchung. Following the loss of her husband, she moved to Bath, PA where she resided for 17 years. She recently moved back to New Jersey to reside with her daughter in Scotch Plains. Sylvia was a former member of Temple Beth El in Plainfield. She enjoyed many vacations with her children and grandchildren. A devoted sister, wife, mother and grandmother, her greatest joy came from spending time with and nurturing her family. Sylvia was predeceased by her husband Cyril Meyers in 1997, sister Fanny Machtinger , brothers Bernard and Walter Helfin and granddaughter Hannah Rebecca Belcastro. Surviving are her daughters Kim Belcastro and her husband Frank and Arlene Klemow and her husband Mark and grandchildren Emma Davy, Adam Belcastro, Aaron Klemow and Ezra Klemow. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2014, at 9:45 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069. Interment will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ.
