Obituary of Kathleen Elizabeth Battis

Kathleen “Kathy” Elizabeth Battis, age 79, passed away Friday, November 29, 2019, at Westfield Center in Westfield, New Jersey.

Kathy was born on May 31, 1940 in Newark, NJ to her loving parents, Kenneth and Catherine Milsop.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Caldwell University and a Master’s Degree from Montclair University. Kathy studied at the Sorbonne in Paris for a year.

She was employed as a Teacher with the Piscataway Board of Education for 44 years, where she taught seventh and eighth grade.  Kathleen taught adult ESL classes at The Connection for Women and Families, a community non-profit located in Summit, NJ.

Kathy was a parishioner at St. Mary’s Stony Hill Church in Watchung, NJ.

Kathy enjoyed traveling extensively in Europe and North America. Kathleen was a devoted fan of the New York Giants football team and had been a season ticket holder since 1957. She also followed college basketball, where her favorite team was St. John’s. She also greatly loved caring for her dog.

Kathy is predeceased by her loving and devoted husband of 43 years, Jeff Battis.  

Kathy is survived by many cousins and numerous relatives.

Funeral Services will begin on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 10:00 am at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd, Watchung, NJ. Services will be followed by an 11:00 am Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Stony Hill Church in Watchung, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Stony Hill Cemetery.
