Obituary of Eugene Zagarella

Eugene Zagarella, Jr. age 84, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020, at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown. Born and raised in Providence, RI, he had resided in Maryland and Connecticut before moving to Warren 42 years ago. Eugene graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He received his master's degree in Science and Engineering Management from Northeastern University and graduated from the University of Maryland with a Juris Doctorate. After many years as a patent attorney he moved his family to NJ to accept a position with Exxon in 1977. He was later employed by National Starch in Bridgewater as a patent attorney for many years. Eugene was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of the Mount Church, Warren and was a member of the Fr. Russell Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed sports and was an avid Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and NJ Devils fan. He enjoyed traveling, reading and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Survived by his loving wife Mary F. (Cannon) Zagarella; his children Craig Zagarella and his wife Lisa, Kerri Heilman and her husband Bill and Glenn Zagarella and his wife Lola; grandchildren William, Alex, Matthew, Ashley and Nicholas; sisters Dorothy Thibodeau and Sandra White. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 10, 2020 from 4-8 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Mount Chapel, Warren.
