Tex Walpole Hill

Obituary of Tex Walpole Hill

Tex Walpole Hill, his way with God’s guidance Tex Walpole Hill was born in Kingston, Jamaica on March 18, 1947, to Mr. Rennie and Mrs. Edwina (Brown) Hill who predeceased him. He was one of a family of nine brothers and five sisters and was predeceased by two brothers, Clarence Brown and DeCordiva Hill, and one sister, Deserene Hill Lockhart. Tex leaves behind his beloved partner, Hazel, and he was the father of three: Natala, Raymond, and Tamikia, as well as five grandchildren. He went to Windward Road School, Kingston, Jamaica, then on to Trade school where he trained as a mechanic. He later joined the JDF (Jamaica Defense Force) and became a soldier for a few years. After leaving the JDF, he worked independently as a mechanic for several years then immigrated to the United States of America. He remained a mechanic by trade and was a diligent and hard worker who took each job seriously. He later owned and operated his own business in the late 1980s – early 1990s. Tex was a loving caring father, brother, and friend. He was generous to all whom he came in contact with. He was friendly and very giving of himself. He was kind to a fault, as the saying goes. He would give you the last of what he has and at the same time take the last of what you have then turn around and give away his best clothes to extended family and friends. Tex came to know the Lord in his younger years while living in Jamaica and recommitted his life about 15 years ago. Tex had a heart transplant over thirteen years ago and after many years of doing well, he developed complications due to the medications that affected his kidneys. He went to be with the Lord peacefully and with family around him on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at 7:20 pm. Tex lived and enjoyed his life – and in many ways – he was young at heart and lived a free-spirited life – in peace and harmony with all those whom he came in contact with. We are all blessed to have known him, to have had a part in his life, and can rejoice in knowing he is at peace with the Lord.
