Obituary of William Edward Morris

Son of the late William E. and Elizabeth Molloy Morris. Born in Brooklyn, NY on August 12, 1941. Passed away May 27, 2020 in Greenbrook, NJ. Predeceased by daughter Julie Morris Meyers, brother Robert Morris, and sisters Barbara Morris, Elizabeth DiMaggio, Dorothy Everson and Elaine Daily. Loving husband of Patricia Thornton Morris. Devoted father of children Jennifer (Chuck), Andrew (Nicole), Daniel, and son-in-law Bill Meyers. Proud grandfather of Cory, Shaylyn, Patrick, Evan, and Jack. Beloved Brother-in-law to Rosemarie Cavallo Morris and Sally Coupe. Second father to nephew Wayne DiMaggio and cherished uncle to his many other nephews and nieces. Bill attended Rice High School in Manhattan, New York Community College and graduated from CW Post Campus of Long Island University, with degrees in Biology and Chemistry. He served in the US Army Reserve and trained as a medical specialist at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. His career began at Colgate-Palmolive as a chemist. He was employed by Revlon for 25 years as manager of the toxicology department. During his career, he was active in the cosmetic industry trade association (formerly CTFA) and a member of several inter-industry scientific committees, participating in the US regulatory process in establishing the safety of drugs and cosmetics. Prior to retirement, he worked for over 10 years for private independent clinical laboratories as vice president in the evaluation of the safety and efficacy of drugs and cosmetics. Bill had fond memories of childhood summers spent in Outcalt NJ in the bungalow his father built. He and Pat enjoyed traveling and had great memories of cruises to Greece and Italy as well as many other trips taken with their beloved Long Island crew. He took oil painting classes and showed his work in many juried and non-juried art exhibits. He was the life of the party, he enjoyed telling stories and making people around him laugh. He was passionate about music, art, fishing, gardening, his family and life. He taught us to live fully. He will be forever missed and loved. Following a private family service Bill will be laid to rest on Tuesday June 2, 2020 at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Catholic Charities.
