Obituary of Joseph B. DePaolo

Joseph B. DePaolo, Jr., age 70, died on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at his home in Flemington. Born in Plainfield he resided in North Plainfield most of his life before moving to Flemington 10 years ago. Joseph served in the Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was an air traffic controller aboard the USS Randolph. Joseph received his degree from Trenton State College in Criminal Justice. He went on to become a Sgt. with the North Plainfield police department retiring in 2007, with 33 years of service. He was a lecture at St. Joseph's Church in North Plainfield. In his spare time he loved to travel, was an avid sharp shooter an excellent artist and loved playing music. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Surviving is his loving wife of 50 years Maryann (Yock) DePaolo; his son David and his wife Sandra of Piscataway; his daughters Lorraine Brown and her husband Lester of Spring, TX, and Amy Grzan and her husband Anthony of South Plainfield; his brother Robert DePaolo and his wife Paula of Bound Brook; his six grandchildren Kristen, Allison, Ryan and Matthew Brown and Anthony and Joseph Grzan. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 4, 2014, at 9:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at St. Joseph's Church, North Plainfield. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in his loving memory to the Michael J.
