Obituary of William Jackson Nichols

William Jackson Nichols (Jack), age 86, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2020, at JFK Medical Center in Edison, NJ. Jack was born in Baltimore, MD and raised in Enfield, NC, and went on to reside in Orange, NJ for over thirty years. Jack then moved to North Carolina for 21 years before finally moving to in Edison, NJ where he has resided since 2012. Jack attended and graduated from Eastern High School in Enfield, North Carolina. He then went on to obtain an associate degree in Criminal Justice from Essex County College in New Jersey. Jack is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where he achieved the rank of Sergeant and received several awards over his 8 years of service. Following his time in the Marines, Jack joined the New Jersey Department of Corrections and worked in Essex County as a Corrections Officer for 30 years. Jack was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness. In his spare time, Jack enjoyed playing cards. Jack is predeceased by his mother and father, Frankie Butler and Thomas Nichols, and his sister, Elizabeth (Bessie). He is survived by his wife Doris Ella Nichols; his sons, Milton Nichols and his former spouse Donna, William “Billy” Jackson Nichols ,Jr., and his wife Louise, Ronald Eugene Nichols and his wife Jacquie; his daughters Kim Nichols-Oliver and her husband Robert, and Karen Elizabeth Nichols and her husband Alvin; seven grandchildren, Jemil and Tia, Jenelle and Monique, Michael, AJ and Jayson; Seven great-grandchildren, JaJuan, Taylor, Logan, Sydney, Morgan, McKinley, and Aiden. A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2020 from 3:00 to 4:00 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd, Watchung NJ. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 4:00 pm at the Funeral Home. Cremation was private.
