Obituary of Thomas Sicola

Thomas Sicola March 5, 1944 – July 3, 2020 Tom Sicola passed away at home in Basking Ridge, NJ on July 3, 2020. He was born in Jersey City, NJ on March 5, 1944 to Thomas and Lillian Sicola, where he lived with his three brothers, Paul, Simone and Joseph, until they moved to Fanwood, NJ where he met his high school sweetheart and wife of 53 years, Nadine (Jannuzzi) Sicola, at Scotch Plains Fanwood High School. They moved to Warren, NJ in 1986 with their children, Laura and Thomas, where they resided for 35 years until they relocated to Basking Ridge this past spring. Tom graduated from the Manhattan School of Music. He then served in the Army band from 1971-1974. He was a music teacher in the Cranford public schools for over 40 years, and played percussion in “the Capris” for 30 years. A man of great faith, he was ordained in 1996 and served as deacon at Our Lady of the Mount Roman Catholic Church for 25 years. He served as the Catholic chaplain at the Somerset County Jail for 18 years, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was passionate about each ministry, through which he touched thousands of lives. He is remembered as a generous spirit who would go to any length to help someone else. But his greatest joy was being husband to Nadine, father to Laura and Tom, and grandfather to his seven grandchildren: Dominic, Anthony, Matteo, Raphael, Chiara, Thomas and Dante. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in his honor to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research. http://www.alzinfo.org
