Obituary of Raymond Charles Carroll Jr.

Raymond C Carroll, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2020. Born in Jersey City, NJ and raised in West New York, NJ and Clifton, NJ. He was a resident of Bedminster, NJ for the past 35 years. Ray was a top salesman for Douglas Motors in Summit, NJ for over 30 years, retiring at age 75. During the Korean War, Ray served with the US Air Force stationed in Albuquerque, New Mexico. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed tennis, snow and water skiing, becoming accomplished at slalom style water-skiing (using one-ski), predominantly at Greenwood Lake in the 1960’s. He grew up playing baseball, going so far as to play in a AAA league as a young man. Ray loved Major League Baseball, he was a devoted fan of the New York Mets, and ardently followed the NY football teams. He had an extensive collection of Lionel Trains and accessories, painstakingly accrued over his lifetime, that was far more than just a hobby. He and wife Fran also enjoyed traveling - visiting Europe, Morocco, and Turkey, although his favorite destination was Bermuda, where they returned frequently. He also cherished time spent with his grandchildren going to recreational parks and the beach. Ray was predeceased by his parents Raymond C. Carroll, Sr and Elizabeth “Marjorie” Muroney Carroll, and his sister Diane Carroll. He is survived by his loving wife, Francine; his four children: Raymond C Carroll, III and wife Carol Ann, James G Carroll and wife Cynthia, Brian S Carroll and wife Elizabeth, John “Jack” Carroll and wife Starr; his four grandchildren: Jacqueline Abaroa and husband Nick, Kaitlin Pantoliano and husband Marco, Violet Carroll and Mason Carroll, and several nieces and nephews. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, services will be private. There will be a livestream available Monday, November 9, 2020 at 11:00AM at Our Lady of the Mount in Warren, NJ.
