I have several special memories of Bob, who was such an amazing and caring person.
The one that stands out is when Bob wanted to buy Janice a handheld (in the days before iPhones). As Bob's IT team member, Bob asked me a lot of questions to ensure he got just the right one for Janice. After he gave Janice the gift, I asked how she liked it, only to learn that not only had Bob bought the handheld, but he wanted Janice to be able to use it immediately, so he had also entered names, addresses, and phone numbers of all friends and family. Where this busy man found the time to do this was beyond me, but over time I learned that this was just typical of Bob who was always example to us of complete thoughtfulness and caring.
And yes, I must admit that after sharing this story with other women on our team, we all decided Bob needed to give our husbands some lessons.
I will always think of Bob as leading by example in everything in did. I learned from Bob how to be a respected leader, how to always do what is right (even when it is the hard thing to do), and what it means to be a genuinely kind and caring person. I will miss him tremendously, but also know how lucky and honored I am to have had him in my life.
My heartfelt condolences go to Janice, Kristin and Michael, as they go through the painful process. May time fill your void with warm and loving memories of Bob, and may you feel his love for you forever.
