Rose Ferrara

Obituary of Rose J. Ferrara

Rose Ferrara, age 89, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at the Morristown Medical Center, surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Newark, Rose raised her family in Hillside before moving to East Hanover and eventually settling in Basking Ridge 36 years ago.

Rose loved spending time with her large family. She was an avid reader with a passion for poetry, a “news junkie”, and loved to impart her knowledge and wisdom to her children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren. She looked forward to her daily visits and phone calls from her loved ones. Rose was energetic, bubbly, loved to laugh, loved music and dancing, and loved to explore new places. She found joy in the simplest things. She will be deeply missed by all.

Rose is predeceased by her daughter Donna who passed away in 1955.

She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Dominick Ferrara; her children Bob Ferrara and his wife Cheryl, Christopher Ferrara and his wife Benilda, and Nancy Bender and her husband Alfred Jr.; seven grandchildren Alexandra Heinz and her husband Joseph, Lauren Ferrara, Jessica Ferrara, Stephanie Ferrara, James Moreno Gomez, Alfred Bender III, and April Bender. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren Ava Lynn, Ashton, and Elliot.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at St. Vincent De Paul Church in Stirling at 10:00 a.m. followed by the interment at St. Vincent DePaul Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her loving to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

LOVE

By Ray Croft

I love you,

Not only for what you are,

But for what I am

When I am with you.

I love you,

Not only for what

You have made of yourself,

But for what

You are making me.

I love you

For the part of me

That you bring out;

I love you

For putting your hand

Into my heaped-up heart

And passing over

All the foolish, weak things

That you can’t help

Dimly seeing there,

And for drawing out

Into the light

All the beautiful belongings

That no one else had looked

Quite far enough to find.

I love you because you

Are helping me to make of

The lumber of my life

Not a tavern

But a temple;

Out of the works

Of my every day

Not a reproach

But a song.

I love you

Because you have done
More than any creed

Could have done

To make me good,

And more than any fate

To make me happy.

You have done it

Without a touch,

Without a word,

Without a sign.

You have done it

By being yourself.
