Obituary of Gary Washington Gaither

Gary Washington Gaither, age 65, of Plainfield, NJ passed away on Friday, August 8, 2014, at Rehab at River's Edge in Raritan, NJ after a long illness. Gary was born in Plainfield, NJ on September 16, 1948 and attended Plainfield Schools but graduated from Laurinburg Institute in Laurinburg, NC after receiving a basketball scholarship there. Gary worked at Runnells Hospital in Berkeley Heights for 11 years before retiring due to illness. He was predeceased by his parents David and Lucille Gaither and a sister Doris Gaither. Gary is survived by his sister, Patricia Ross of Dover, DE; his brothers Dewey Gaither of Columbia, SC, Waverly Gaither of Plainfield, NJ and Roger Gaither of Edison, NJ as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 from 1-3 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th St., Plainfield, NJ
