Obituary of Francis Robert Zampella

Frank died peacefully at his home in North Plainfield on Wednesday, October 10, 2012. Frank was born in Plainfield and lived in North Plainfield since 1965. He is a graduate of Plainfield High School. He was the Runner up State Champion Wrestler in 1952. He proudly served his country in the Army with his twin brother Larry, and they were stationed together in Fairbanks Alaska. After his term of service, he was the owner and proprietor of Scotch Plains Garage until he retired. Frank was an avid bowler and he loved taking his wife dancing as well as spending time with his grandchildren and great granddaughter. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in North Plainfield. He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Teresa Zampella. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Ida Zampella of North Plainfield and his children Stephen and Doris Zampella of Bridgewater, Robert Zampella of Easton, PA and Donna Zampella Mauro of Green Brook, his grandchildren, Danny Zampella, Jacquelyn and Michael Zampella, Frank and Dominick Mauro, his great granddaughter Ariana Zampella, his twin brother Larry Zampella and his wife Olga of South Plainfield and his brother Ronald Zampella and wife Donna of Piscataway. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 15th, at 9:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at St. Joseph's RC Church, North Plainfield. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the www.woundedwarriorproject.org or your favorite local charity.
