Richard Lindner

Obituary of Richard J. Lindner

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Richard Joseph Lindner, aged 88, on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. He departed this life peacefully at his home, enveloped in the love of his family. Born to Joseph and Frieda (Kuhn) Lindner on October 26, 1935, in East Orange, NJ, Richard's journey was one marked by dedication, love, and an unwavering work ethic.

A proud graduate of Union High School's Class of 1953, Richard channeled his entrepreneurial spirit into establishing a successful masonry restoration business in Jersey City. His career evolved over the years, culminating in a focus on real estate development. In 1957, he married Carol Kurtzner, and together they nurtured a loving family with their children John Lindner, Diana Grimston, and Nancy Fitzgerald in Union.

Richard's passion extended beyond his professional life. An avid tennis player and member of the Elizabeth Town Country Club, he instilled a love for the sport in his children. His commitment to family was further exemplified by his development of property in Warren, providing a picturesque farm setting for his children to live nearby.

A man of varied interests, Richard cherished his visits to Amish Country, collecting antique tractors and wagons, and spending time working on his barn and farm. In his later years, he enjoyed his retirement years in Captiva, Florida, delighting in hosting family and guests from around the world at his Captiva home. He was also a proud member of the Captiva Yacht Club.

Richard's legacy lives on through his four grandchildren, Alexa, Timothy, Jr., Kelly Fitzgerald, and Lauren Lindner.

His life was a testament to honesty, generosity, and a deep love for family. Those who knew Richard will remember him as a hardworking and family-loving man. His absence will be profoundly felt by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family of the late Richard Joseph Lindner would like to gratefully acknowledge the loving care and attention from his loving and devoted family members: his children, his grandchildren, his daughter-in-law, Lisa Lindner, and Larry Ahlijah.
