Obituary of Dr. George Thomas Favetta, Jr.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr. George Thomas Favetta, Jr., a distinguished and beloved member of the Martinsville community, at the age of 64. Dr. Favetta passed away peacefully on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.


Born in Orange, New Jersey, George was raised in Warren and spent many years living in Bridgewater and Clark. A luminary in the field of dentistry, Dr. Favetta dedicated over thirty years to practicing Prosthodontics in Martinsville, where he became a cherished figure among patients and colleagues alike.

Dr. Favetta's academic journey culminated in 1985 when he graduated from the Fairleigh Dickinson University, School of Dentistry with a Doctorate of Medicine in Dentistry, after receiving his Bachelor of Science. His commitment to excellence led him to complete a post-doctorate certificate for prosthodontic reconstruction in 1988 at Fairleigh Dickinson University, School of Dentistry. Dr. Favetta was renowned for his work in the field of prosthodontics, significantly enhancing the quality of life for his patients.


Dr. Favetta was more than just a dental practitioner; he was a kind-hearted individual who went above and beyond for his patients, offering his personal cell phone number and making himself available seven days a week. His dedication knew no bounds, often returning to his office after hours to ensure his patients' needs were met, whether they were preparing for a trip, a wedding, or faced with an urgent dental issue.


Beyond his professional life, Dr. Favetta was an avid golfer, finding joy and camaraderie at the Watchung Valley Golf Club. He was a connoisseur of wine, food, and cigars, relishing in the pleasure of dining with family and friends, especially at his favorite Italian restaurant, Sally G's in Warren. His love for his children and three dogs, Marco, Romeo, and Luna, knew no limits.

Dr. Favetta is predeceased by his father, George Thomas Favetta, Sr., and his mother, Annette Favetta. 


Dr. Favetta leaves behind a loving family, including his children, Annette Favetta and George Thomas Favetta, III; his sister, Elaine Favetta Gennaro, and her husband Michael; along with many extended family members and cherished friends.


Visitation will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church in Martinsville, NJ, followed by interment at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge, NJ.


In memory of Dr. Favetta, we celebrate a life devoted to caring for others, a legacy that will continue to inspire and touch the lives of many.
