Obituary of Ronald E. Potts
Ronald E. Potts, 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains, New Jersey.
Born on June 20, 1942, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Ron grew up in Cranford. On September 14, 1963, he married the love of his life, Louetta C. Closter, after meeting at the Jersey Shore. The couple settled in Warren, where they raised their family and resided for many years. Louetta predeceased him on April 17, 2012.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Ron began his career at International Harvester in the late 1960s and worked there into the 1970s. In 1984, he joined FedEx as a Facility Maintenance Manager at Newark Airport, a position he held until his retirement in 2003.
Outside of work, Ron enjoyed fishing, boating, and watching baseball, especially when his grandson played. He loved spending time at the family’s shore house, surrounded by family and friends. Above all, Ron’s greatest joy in life was the time he spent with his grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and happiness.
Ron is survived by his two children, Laurie Maziekien and her husband Dennis, and Geoffrey Potts and his wife Brooke. He also leaves behind several beloved grandchildren: Nicholas, Jenna, Reid, Blake, and Whitney.
The family is planning a memorial service to honor Ron at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Center for Hope Hospice, 1900 Raritan Road, Scotch Plains, NJ.
Ron will be remembered for his love of family, his unwavering dedication, and the cherished memories he created with those he loved most.
