Obituary of Barbara Ann Badaan
October 23, 1962 – January 9, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Barbara Badaan, 62, of Toms River, New Jersey, on January 9, 2025. Born on October 23, 1962, in Paramus, New Jersey, Barbara’s life was marked by her unwavering dedication to family, faith, and community.
Barbara spent her early years in Paramus before residing briefly in Lebanon. She eventually settled in Kinnelon, New Jersey, where she became an integral part of the community. A devout Catholic, Barbara was an active member of Our Lady of the Magnificat RC Church in Kinnelon. She dedicated many years to teaching CCD and volunteering at the parish school, nurturing the spiritual growth of countless children.
Professionally, Barbara served as a receptionist at the Kinnelon Eye Care Center for 12 years, where her warm demeanor and commitment to service left a lasting impression on colleagues and patients alike.
In her leisure time, Barbara cherished moments by the beach and pool. In her earlier years, she was an avid skier, embracing the thrill of the slopes. Her love for animals was evident to all who knew her. The holiday season, especially Christmas, held a special place in her heart, as she delighted in bringing her family together and showcasing her exceptional culinary skills. Above all, Barbara’s greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, often spoiling them with shopping trips and creating cherished memories.
Barbara was predeceased by her father, Frank Rasmussen, her mother, Marge Rasmussen, and her brothers, Peter and Richie Rasmussen.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Amira Padilla and her husband Kevin, and Nina Shinway and her husband Samih. Barbara also leaves behind her adored grandchildren: Mikaela, Bella, Luca, Cora, Axel, Emmy, and Jace. She is also further survived by her two sisters, Carol Badaan and Debbie Bessette.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, January 16, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Higgins Home for Funerals, located at 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, followed by interment at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
Barbara’s legacy of love, faith, and dedication to her family and community will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
