Obituary of Paul James Conly
Paul James Conly, Jr., age 75, died on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains. Born in Elizabeth, he grew up in Plainfield, before moving to North Plainfield in 1968.
Paul served in the USMC for three years from 1957 to 1960. Prior to retiring in 2012, Paul was the owner of Pastor Refrigeration in South Plainfield.
Paul was an active member of the J.J. Gardner Detachment of the Marine Corps League, Plainfield Elks #885, for fifty years, and the American Legion Post 265 in North Plainfield. He enjoyed cooking, traveling and reading. He was a gracious host, a loyal friend, and a great provider. His smile and humor were contagious. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Predeceased by his parents Paul and Jean Conly; three brothers Joseph, Charles and Mark Conly; and a nephew Sean Roane.
Survived by his devoted wife of fifty-one years Barbara (Cameron) Conly; his daughters Lynn Murphy and her husband T.C. of Ohio and Tricia Schwartz of Randolph; his six grandchildren Luke and Claire Murphy and Kelly, Katherine, Grace and Thomas Schwartz; his brother Thomas Conly (Doris); his sister, Sr. Carol Conly; sisters-in-law Dot Roane (Bud) and Karolyn Conly; his brother-in-law Bob Cameron; five nieces and nephews and their spouses and many cousins.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday morning from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Cremation will be private.
