Obituary of Joseph Cappuccio
Joseph Cappuccio, age 70, died on Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. Born in Salem, MA, Joseph moved to North Plainfield in 1962.
Prior to retiring, he worked for Connecticut General Insurance (now CIGNA) as an Insurance Executive for his entire career. He was a member of the Gold Circle Club, consistently recognized for his achievements.
Mr. Cappuccio was a graduate of Salem High School and the Business School at Northeastern University. He served in the U.S. Navy for three years, attended Officers Candidate School and attained the rank of Lieutenant.
He was very active in the local community, devoting his time to St. Josephs Church in North Plainfield, formerly serving as a volunteer for Lyons VA Hospital, and working with the Board of Elections for North Plainfield. In addition, he served as Treasurer for the Italian-American Heritage Committee and held several positions in the local chapter of UNICO in New Jersey.
Mr. Cappuccio is predeceased by his wife, Marcy Cappuccio, and his, sister Phyllis Cappuccio. He is survived by his son, David Cappuccio of North Plainfield, his brother John Cappuccio of Salem, MA, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22nd, from 7-9 p.m. and Friday, May 23rd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung, NJ, and Monday, May 26th from 5-9 p.m. at Murphys Funeral Home, 85 Federal Street, Salem, MA. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 27th at 9:00 a.m. at St. Annes Church in Salem, MA. Mr. Cappuccio will be laid to rest at St. Marys Cemetery in Salem, MA.
