Obituary of Hermes Santiago

Hermes O. Santiago, age 55, passed away on Friday November 16, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born in Paredes Do Bairro Portugal, Mr. Santiago was raised in the Ironbound Section of Newark and had resided in Scotch Plains and Warren. For the past several years he has split his time in Palm Beach Gardens, FL and in Watchung NJ. Mr. Santiago started Porto-Fino Distributors Inc., a catering food service, twenty years ago. An avid soccer fan; he was a member of Benfica, a Portuguese soccer club in Lisbon Portugal. He loved the Yankees, Jets and the Red Bulls. Although, his favorite pass time was just lying under his palm tree at his pool in Palm Beach Gardens. He is survived by his loving wife Isabel Santiago; a daughter Lauren Santiago of New York City; his mother Lourdes Castanhas; a brother Nelson Santiago; mother and father-in-law Adelaide and Antonio Cardoso; brother-in- law John Rei; sister-in-law Cristina Rei and a nephew Philip Rei. He is also survived by his best friends Antonio and Maria Pereira. A funeral mass was held at St. Mary's Stony Hill RC Church in Watchung on Monday, November 19, 2012. Funeral services are under the direction of Higgins Home for Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung NJ.
