Obituary of William F. Wodrich

William F. Wodrich, age 86, died on Thursday, May 6th at the Bridgeway Care Center in Somerset. Mr. Wodrich was born in Chicago, Illinois and had lived in North Plainfield before moving to Plainfield where he lived for most of his life. He was a graduate of North Plainfield High School and also attended Rutgers University and Upsala. Mr. Wodrich served in the Second World War in the European Theatre as a Staff Sergeant with the 330th Ordinance Battalion Headquarters. Mr. Wodrich was a Realtor in Plainfield and North Plainfield for over 50 years. He was the principal of the Wodrich Agency in Plainfield and a designated member (SRA) of the Appraisal Institute. He held a Brokers license in Casualty and Life Insurance. He was a Realtor Member of the National Association, having held a Brokers License in Real Estate. Mr. Wodrich was a member of the Plainfield and Somerset Real Estate Boards and the MLS. Mr. Wodrich was a Past President of the Plainfield Real Estate Board as well as Governor on the Board of Realtors of the Plainfield area. In the city of Plainfield, he served on the Board of Adjustment and also served as Chairman on the Plainfield Planning Board in the 1960s. He was Past President of the Plainfield Business Associations as well as Past President of the Plainfield Lions Club. In 1975 to 1982, he served on the Economic Development Committee of Plainfield by appointment of the Mayor. He was a communicant of St. Marys R. C. Church in Plainfield and St. Josephs R.C. Church in North Plainfield. He was a member of the Serra Club of Union County. He was also a member of the Plainfield BPOE (Elks) # 85. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Sheelen Wodrich; two daughters, Sherry A. Havens and her husband Peter G. of Clinton Township and Jeanne L. Sage and her husband Edmund M. of Warren Township; a son, William F. Wodrich, Jr. and his wife Anne N. of Huson, Montana; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held from Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung on Tuesday, May 11th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Josephs R.C. Church in North Plainfield. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Friends and relatives may visit at the funeral home on Monday, May 10th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
