Obituary of Joseph E. Chiovarou

Bridgewater: Joseph E. Chiovarou, age 69, died on Monday December 6, 2004 at home. Mr. Chiovarou was born in Summit, NJ and had lived in Bridgewater since 1966. He was a self-employed painting contractor in the Bridgewater area for 34 years. Mr. Chiovarou was a Navy Veteran serving on the USS Everett F. Larson. He was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in Martinsville and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5959. Joe enjoyed golf and gardening and loved the ocean. He and his wife Pat cherished their time traveling together and being with their children and grandchildren. He is predeceased by two sisters, Elizabeth Rushton and Grace Chiovarou. Surviving are his wife Patricia R. Perdie Chiovarou; his daughters Susan Burlingame and her husband Philip of Centre Hall, PA.; Patty Lynn Connell and her husband Michael of Mendham, NJ; Jill Muir and her husband Robert of Robbinsville, NJ; sons Joseph E. Chiovarou, Jr. of Charleston, SC.; Daniel Chiovarou and his wife Marianne of Bridgewater, NJ. He is also survived by his brothers Arthur of Chatham, NJ; Richard of Tuckerton, NJ; Peter of Newtown, PA; William Swistok of Midway, AL.; and one sister Mary Ellen Zaharia of Massapequa, LI. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren Quinn, Katherine, Shea, Riley, Maggie Rose, Tyler, Austin, Morgan, Lily, Brody, Shane and Carson, as well as many nieces, nephews and many cherished friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 10th, at 9:15 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Sacrament Church, Martinsville. Entombment will follow at St. Marys Stony Hill Mausoleum in Watchung. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions in his memory maybe made to the Cancer Institute of New Jersey, Development Office, 120 Albany Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08901.
