Obituary of Peter P Piccirillo
Peter Palmaur Piccirillo of Warren, NJ, was born in Newark, NJ, on Palm Sunday in 1926. After graduating from Union (NJ) High School in 1944, where he played quarterback on the football team, Pete trained to be a bombardier in the Army Air Corps, and then attended Newark Technical School to become one of New Jersey's first television technicians. Pete later pursued a career in Quality Assurance Management at Gulton Industries, Burroughs Corporation, Becton Dickinson, and Zeus Industrial Products. His never-subsiding love of guitar and banjo playing had him busy every weekend for over 50 years . . . playing gigs at local restaurants and hotels, especially for weddings, bowling banquets, retirement parties and square dances. Despite the ever-so-late Saturday night schedule, Pete's love of golf had him on the links early on Sunday mornings. A devoted husband and father, Pete never missed any family events or outings, and has the distinct honor of having a pre-war Gibson tenor banjo named after him.
Pete died from congestive heart failure on May 9, 2015, at age 89. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Trudy (nee Lorenz) ; his son, Thomas and daughter-in-law, Debra; his daughter, Laura, and son-in-law, Thomas Dedering; and two grandchildren, Christine and Joseph Piccirillo.
